Round 15 news!
Well Round 15 saw a late start to the day, with thick fog covering the track until about 11pm, when racing eventually got under way. Rick Ashman went into the final round 7 points behind Jason Manley, but still had an outside chance of winning the championship, the scrap for 3rd place was also very tight between Simon Shepherd and Mark Chorley, Simon was 2 points in front heading into the final round. Mark Chorley took FTQ in the first heat, and held on to it until round 3 of the heats, when Simon Shepherd claimed the top spot, also claiming the extra point that goes with it, and virtually wrapping up 3rd place in the championship. The B final saw Jim finish a final, something of a rare occurrence for Jim, but now he has made the switch from Lauterbacher to Hormann Jim should start to finish a few more races and become more competitive. Paul Field drove a steady race and won the B, progressing into the A Final. The A final started of at an unbelievably fast and frantic pace, Simon got himself out in front, and just behind him Mark and Jason were having one hell of a scrap, both swapping places corner after corner, flat out down the rostrum straight just inches apart with neither driver giving any leeway!!! In the end it was mechanical problems that took both drivers out, giving 2nd place to Rick, and Paul claiming 4th place. So at the end of the day, Jason retains the Sweetnap crown and the Super clubman title, and Paul Field has won the Sweetnap Clubman Championship. Very well done to both drivers, and well done and thank you to all the drivers who participated in this years Sweetnap Championship. The Official Prize giving will be held after the 4 Hour Endurance Race which is being held on the 25th November. We already have 8 teams booked in for this event, so get your entries in quick... camping is available, the track is open for practice on the Saturday, and the endurance race will kick off at 10am sharp!! Hope to see a few of you there. Bigbore.

Track maintenance day!
There will be a track maintenance day on Sunday 10th June, in preperation for the BRCA LSOR National event at Sweetnap Raceway, more information on the forum HERE.
We need a good turnout for this workday to really show the other tracks on the national scene what a great track Sweetnap is now that it has been Astroturfed. Tiverton Radio Controlled Car Club have invited us to one of there weekend meetings. It would be great if a few of us could make this meeting as way of thanking the guys from TRCCC for their continuing support. More information CLICK HERE.

New AMB 20 System
With our old AMB Timing system slowly dying a death, and with the hunt for funds for the club to purchase a new digital sytem still ongoing, i am proud to announce that the club has managed to buy another AMB 20 system with an extra 10 transponders. This means that the club will have a working AMB system to sell when we raise the money for the digital system.
Many thanks to Jason Manley for coming up with the cash short term, for the new system.

Season Update
Round 3 saw another win for Clive Cook in largescale, with new member Damien taking the win in 1/8th scale.
Qualifying in largescale was hard fought, with everyone trying to match the pace of Jason Manley. The A final was all about the scrap between former Sweetnap Champ Clive, and reigning Sweetnap Champ Jason. Jason again suffered radio related problems, but Clives smooth driving style saw him cruise home for the win, making it 2 wins out of 2 for Clive, not bad for someone who has just returned from nearly 18 months away from racing! I spoke to Jason recently, and he told me "Clive won't win next meeting!!!" Only time will tell!
The 1/8th scale membership could do with a boost, our landlord, Jess, has kindly been in touch with a Rep from CML, a distributor of many popular types of 1/8th and 1/10th scale cars, he was very impressed with the whole set up at Sweetnap, and will be trying to help us raise the awareness of Sweetnap now welcoming the smaller scales.

Race Controller Needed!
Sweetnap Raceway needs YOU!!.... or your wife, girlfriend, partner, son, daughter, cousin etc etc to be the clubs permanent race controller! The position is thankless, but with increasing numbers at the club i may be able to twist the treasurers arm for a small amount of payment! If you are interested then please contact the Chairman via the contact pages on this site.

The best is soon to get better
Jason Manley has taken delivery of his new Hormann HT2, he was unstoppable with the HPI, God only knows how well he will perform with the new car, my guess is that he will be virtually unstoppable!
I beleive that some of the guys are going to the track this Sunday for a little maintainence after the first meeting, if you can help out then that would be great. It was always our intention that we would go with the track as it was, and see what work it needed in the early stages, hopefully the Astroturf will become relatively maintainence free once the early glitches are ironed out.
